I had a d and c 3 weeks ago.....I take coumadin for mthrf and have history of dvt and pe. I am bleeding VERY heavily, soaking pads within 30 mins and passing clots. could this be a complication from the d and c, or could my blood be too thin....Please help! Thank you !!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
Understand your concern
Bleeding and clotting after 3 week of D & C is not normal.
It may be side effects of coumadin. You have to consult the Doctor and shift to other low molecular weight heparin medicine or take lower dose.

Other cause may be retain product/incomplete abortion.
It should be diagnosed by USG scan and it will found should be treated by misoprostol or again by curettage.
Vaginal or pelvic infections can be rule out by swab test
Take healthy diet with iron supplements and if needed blood transfusion,
Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
