What Causes Heart Palpitations?

Hi I have for the last few days been experiencing some noticeable beating presumably of my heart in what feels like base of my throat and I feel a little light headed. This happens when I seem to be relaxed and lasts few seconds or quite few minutes I have controlled high blood pressure controlled diabetes 2 and controlled under active thyroid any ideas ???? Thank you

Hi,

Palpitations can be caused by your thyroid problems as well.
To find out the type of arrhythmia you have and the cause I would advise you to undergo holter monitoring (a test during which 24 hour ECG is recorded) and check serum electrolytes. Electrolytes come back normal I would advise you to undergo echocardiography if you didn't have it recently.
