What Causes Headaches Behind The Nose And Eye?

We are seeing a dr. for my husband who has recently begun to have extreme headaches in the right side of his face behind the right eye and the right side of the nose. Our Dr. said that the only thing he can think of our cluster headaches. He has several symptoms of cluster headaches, but also several that are not symptoms. In August he went for a routine eye Dr. appt. to get his script changed and the dr. had asked if he d had a trauma to his right eye. He has had a trauma to that eye; our 4 year old son landed on that eye with his elbow (full weight) a couple of weeks before his eye dr. appt. Do you think that it would be worth seeing an eye dr. as well as a neuro doc?

Hi,

Cluster headaches can sometimes cause the eye pain you're describing. However, knowing that he had an injury to the eye, I would definitely recommend seeing an eye specialist (ophthalmologist) for full evaluation. A hematoma or popped blood vessel could linger after an injury and continue to cause pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
