My daughter is 9 yrs old and approximately 55lbs she has been complaining of headache not hungry and noticed that her face is swollen, nothing extreme but enough for me to notice.. I gave ibuprofen and Benadryl they did nothing.. Any ideas what this is or what a home treatment could be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Based on the history you have shared, she needs to be reviewed by a pediatrician to rule out any systemic disease, infection or allergic conditions as swelling of the face isn't a symptom to be ignored. A baseline urinalysis for any blood or protein leak, as well as kidney function and complete blood counts for hemoglobin levels and eosinophils as well as other white cells, need to be done. The detailed systemic evaluation also needs to be done. Liver functions may also be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin
