As you know TIAs are sudden loss of blood flow to the brain that manifests itself with loss of neurological function for a short period of time. These blockages can be due to atherosclerosis of the arteries of the brain. These blockages do not usually cause pain or headaches. If your mother is not accustomed to having headaches then new onset headaches need different approach and diagnostic workup. There are several entities that can cause headache including temporal artery disease, bruxism or tension headaches. In my practice I would do additional blood work and physical examination.
