I did notice that I've been grinding my teeth while sleeping so I just went out and bought a mouth guard to help with that problem and to save my teeth. Can you help me figure out what's happening. I have been under stress lately and could be clenching or grinding my teeth at night. I have not been wearing my mouthpiece. What could it be?

I would like you to know that due to night grinding or bruxism the biting surfaces of the teeth becomes flat, the enamel which protects the nerves within the tooth is worn off with continuous pressure. This the reason why teeth become sensitive.

bruxism can be due to excessive caffiene intake, stress, over activity of masticatory muscle. it can be treated by occlusal splints. weaing it during sleep prevents teeth damage. take care. happy smile

I had a sudden loss of earing in left ear 3 days ago. Went to a quick care center yesterday was told most likely TMJ, sinuses were clear. Was told that with alleve and a mouth guard it would be better the next day. Did both and still don t feel better. I don t think its TMJ. Neither my husband or I are aware of teeth grinding at night. It seems to feel better when lying down. Have taken decongestants with no relief. Migraines were mentioned but my migraine medicine did nothing either. Have spent all day in bed as this is only relief I seem to get. Also- low pitch noises bother me. There has been no trauma to the ear.
