What Causes Headache With Swelling In Face And Salty Taste In Mouth?

Hi
I have been unwell for 3 days, started with a head ache which then developed into swelling on my face in my cheeks under my ears and in my glands in my chin. I saw a doctor and was given antibiotics but now I have developed a strong salt taste in my mouth. The head ache is a little better but the glands are still swollen. I am on the 3rd day of a seven antiobiotic course. Any ideas what it is? My doctor though a virus, possible Mumps but I have had Mumps before so that's unlikely. The salt tasts is a new development. Thank you

Hi...
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

As per your complain the salty taste in mouth seems to be due to side effect of the medicine and when you will stop the intake of the medicine the metallic taste will gradually disappear.

You should drink more and more water, chew sugar free chewing gums to stimulate saliva flow..

As far as the swelling under the ear under the chin seems to be either due to infection in the salivary gland or can be inflamed lymph nodes secondary to infection in the head and neck region.
An MRI of salivary glands can be diagnostic..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
