Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Headache, Fever, Fatigue And Soreness In The Neck?
On Tuesday, I started having a headache and tight muscles. I thought it was a tension headache. It has since turned into a fever, chills, a sore neck and shoulders (mainly left and center) and a sometimes sore lower back. Icy hot was not a help. I have been taking Tylenol and feel better during the day, even cleaning and parenting a bit. I get very fatigued from all of this and the fever has not dropped since Wednesday early am without meds. Stretching my neck down does provide a little good pain/relief.
The symptoms are in keeping with an infection, likely viral since these are the most common infections to occur.
You can consider adding ibuprofen to the Tylenol to help further decrease the fever and aches/pains. Using enough fluids and rest would also be helpful as well.
Fluids should be cool or cold so that they do not increase the temperature further.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
