What Causes Headache Along With Sore Throat And Cough?

My son began to feel ill last Friday evening. He complained of a headache. By Saturday, he complained of a headache and sore throat, while having a mild cough. At first, we gave him Advil, then moved to Theraflu cold medicine. By Sunday, he said he was feeling better, but we still continued with the cold medicine to ensure wellness. Monday morning, he vomitted, but believed he was getting better. By late Monday afternoon, the school nurse documented his fever at 102. When I arrived to pick him up, his fever was 104. I got his fever down with Advil & cold medicine. I kept him home on Tuesday & took him to the doctor. He tested negative for strep & flu. His cultures were sent to an outside lab & haven t returned. He slept most of Tuesday and refused to eat. He s been able to drink, so he s had water, juices, 7Up & fruit smoothies, while still taking medicine. Today, he awoke vomitting. Since he really had nothing in his stomach, it was only liquid. He vomitted for about thirty minutes, off & on. I ve been pumping him with liquids, but when I tried to feed him a banana or crackers, he would vomit. He is now complaining of a severe abdominal pain, in the center of his stomach, which he says started yesterday. What do his symptoms sound like?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sore throat and cough which could be due to bacterial or viral infection due to infection of upper respiratory tract due to poor compromised immunity of body. You can start with crocin syrup 5ml 4-5 times a day depending upon fever. If fever increases do tepid sponging as well with cold water. Use mist humidifiers in room. Visit general physician once if symptoms keeps on persisting. You should keep yourself hydrated always. Take diet rich in multivitamins. Avoid taking spicy and sharp food. Doctor may refer you to ENT specialist for sore throat.Avoid cold carbonated beverages.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
