Does Costochondritis Cause Sore Throat?

Hi, I have a costochondritis and also sore throat with light dry cough for more than 2 months. Occasionally this causes hoarse voice. I think my throat is sore on the same side as chest pain from costochondritis. Had a lot of anxiety lately. Can my sore throat be caused by costochondritis?

Hello,

A sore throat can lead to muscle pain and rib pain like constitutional symptom. Costochondritis doesn't lead sore throat. Your workup was done as follow.
-Antistreptolysin O (ASO) titer
Throat swab for culture
-Auscultation
-Chest x-ray
-A decongestant like short term steroid can prescribe to relieve congestion.
-Drink lots of water. If still, no improvement and above workup doesn't help, then spirometry investigation needed. Consult pulmonologist for examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
