What Causes Grey Vaginal Discharge During Pregnancy?

I am 10 weeks pregnant with fraturnal twins after a successful IVF treatment. This morning I had a grey vaginal discharge. This afternoon I had more of it and there now appears to be some blood in it as well. What could this be and what should I do?

Hi,
In the current scenario, you should immediately contact your consultant. Presence of greyish to bloody vaginal discharge is suggestive of some intra-uterine bleeding if all local causes like erosions, polyps etc. have been excluded. A trans-vaginal/pelvic sonogram should be done to assess the state of the pregnancy and look for any hemorrhages. Please take absolute bed rest, avoid all stressful activity including sexual intercourse. A sanitary napkin and not a vaginal tampon should be used to monitor the amount and nature of the discharge. Hope this helps.
