Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 5yr old boy has really sticky dark green poop very hard to wipe should I be worried. As far as I know he hasn t eaten anything unusual. His twin brother is being checked at the moment for his itchy sore bottom which he has had for about 2 months. We have antibiotics, worming tablets and thrush cream and it still isn t sorted.
Hello I share your concern. Green coloured stool is a matter of concern,
In my opinion you should take him to a paediatrician for stool and test and further course of action
Green color stool might be related to intestinal infection, indigestion, liver disease or malabsorption syndrome which needs to be evaluated in detail to find out underlying cause.
Meanwhile give him plenty of fluids including ORS and fruit juices to maintain good hydration and counter electrolyte imbalances.
Hope I could answer your question, please do let me know if you have any more queries, I will happily answer you .
Best wishes
