Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Me and my boyfriend were both virgins (for a complet fact) and had sex (unprotected) a couple of times, I had just recently gone to the doctor and they visually diagnosed me with genital herpes bc my genital area was hurting and I didn t know what was going on. no I am not pregnant, but I have no idea how I could have herpes in the first place, if you can t get them unless the sores are open on the other partner and obviously you would see the sores and they would hurt, and you would most likely not have sex. so it s hard to believe the doctor that I have them when there is basically no way I could.
There are some persons who do not have the typical symptoms with herpes. It is also possible to have asymptomatic transmission , this means a person may not have the typical rash and transmit the infection to someone else.
If you wish to determine if you truly have herpes then a blood test can be done. This test can check for the presence of herpes 1 and 2. You should consider screening for all of the STD at the same time , if possible.
These tests would give you a definitive answer.
Your partner should be tested as well.
I hope this helps
