What Causes Frequent Urination And Nose Bleeds While Suffering From Hypertension And Diabetes?

Im stage 3 hypertension, diabetic. My problem is I cant sleep at night. I'm up every 60 to 90 minutes to urinate. I have this problem all day long too. The urge to urinate comes on real fast and I'd better be near a bathroom or else. Also lately I've had problems with nose bleeds . I'll be standing there or even asleep and the blood will just start running. Sometimes I can stop it quickly sometimes not.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Frequent urination may be due to high glucose levels or the presence of any urinary infection. You need to keep your blood sugar and blood pressure under control. Bleeding may be caused by high blood pressure or low platelet level. A urine culture and whole blood count are needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are multiple aspects to your query.

1. your frequent micturition may be due to -

a. High sugars.
b. A urine infection.

Since you have not mentioned any of the sugar reports or any burning in the urine, it is difficult for me to say what ails you.

2. Your bleeding from nose (called epistaxis), can be due to

a. dryness of nose.
b. frequent nose picking
c. raised blood pressure.

Again your BP readings are not mentioned. I would request you to upload the required details so that we can help you further.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Frequent urination can be a symptom of many different problems from kidney disease to simply drinking too much fluid.

At the other side frequent urination can be a sign of high blood sugar and uncontrolled diabetes. Urinary urgency is the sudden urge to urinate and it is one of the hallmark symptoms of urinary tract infection (UTI). Also, certain medications, like diuretics, can also cause urinary urgency.

Urinary tract infections are more common in diabetics. So, in my opinion the cause of your frequent urination is a possible urinary tract infection and your diabetes.

For this reason I suggest to consult your local doctor because it is necessary to do a urine test and a HbA1C test to confirm the diagnosis.

About the nose bleeds, my advice is to measure your blood pressure twice daily because high blood pressure can be the cause. If your blood pressure is normal, then I suggest to consult a local ENT specialist to check for the right cause of this symptom.

Hope this information is helpful.

Regards.
