What Causes Frequent Sharp Left Sided Headache?

My husband is a 51 year old male, in great general health. He has been dx with a venous stasis ulcer on his low rt extremity (inside on ankle). He has been complaining f an ongoing headache on the left back side of his head. He specifies that it does not ache when he is sitting straight up. Can you please tell me if this is something to be concerned about...his headaches are sharp, pounding pains?

Hello,

Since your husband had venous stasis ulcer (inside on the ankle), you need to take him for a follow up physical examination by a doctor to rule out any complications like infection, septicemia, cellulitis, vasculitis or any malignancy, etc.

Left-sided headache is commonly caused by tension headache or can occur due to complications of vasculitis.

Stay away from stress, anxiety, alcoholism or addictions if any, correct your posture, stay well hydrated, take adequate sleep.

Your treatment will depend upon the pathology detected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
