Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Frequent Heart Palpitations And Tingling Sensation In The Hands?
I ve had heart palpitations for over a month (that I know of) at random times. When it happens I try to use controlled breathing to ease it & if it doesn t work, I begin to panic. I m a 46 year old female & pre-menopause is a possibility. I m eating healthy, lost weight & exercise regularly. Can t say I have any arm or chest pains other than what could be from exercise. I also get tingling in my hands. I m scheduled for a halter monitor on Tuesday. Any thoughts? I m really starting to panic.
It is important that you are having the Holter to monitor your heart. Ruling out heart problems first is important. If the Holter examination comes out normal, I would do some blood tests such as CBC, ERS, TSH, FT4, liver function tests, kidney function tests with electrolytes and also sugar levels and lipid levels to check your health in general.
If all the tests and examinations are normal, then anxiety is very likely the cause of your symptoms and you will need treatment with an SSRI drug and regular follow-up with your doctor to properly treat it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
