What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements Along With Fever?

Hi. I appreciate your help. I had frequent bowel movement two days ago that lasted the whole day. I was feverish and took Advil 600mg for relief. At the end of the day, the frequent bowel movement stopped. I felt better. Today, an hour after lunch, I started feeling feverish again, then started wheezing and my ribs on the left started itching. I will appreciate a response. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Frequent bowel movements are usually caused by irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), hyperthyroidism, Crohn's/celiac disease, ulcerative colitis, etc.

Low-grade fever, malaise, sweating are the signs of IBS. Visit ER, get physically examined and get all screening tests done to rule out the developing pathology. In the meantime take Acetaminophen (Tylenol) for fever. Take small meals four to five times daily along with that avoid oily food and addictions if any.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
