Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I recently had a fishy odor and a little discharge (very noticeable after intercourse) I took flagyl in suppositories for 5 days and it went away. A week later it has come back. Not as bad as before but the smell is noticeable after intercourse. My period is due in 4 days could this be a reason for fishy discharge (there s not much and it s not noticeable until intercourse) is it possible my partner has reinfected me? I practice good hygiene and use carefree feminine wash no soaps or creams
Hi, Thanks for your question. Please rate my answer if you are satisfied. Trichomoniasis is a parasitic infection of vagina that causes foul smelling vaginal discharge. It is a sexually transmitted parasite and causes no symptoms in infected males. And it is treated with flagyl. So, it's most likely that you and your partner have this parasite. You got rid of it with flagyl but your partner re-infected you. So, you need to re-treat yourself with flagyl and at the same time treat your partner as well. You should be fine :)
