What Causes Flushing On The Face While On Treatment For Sinusitis?

Hi, I currently have a Sinus Infection, the first time I ever got one was 2 years ago an it was terrible for 3 months. I never knew how bad they were, I always thought its just a strong cold, but it is totally different. In any case, I have one again and was put on steroids by my doctor. 2 years ago the symptoms cleared up pretty quick after starting the meds, this time they are not and I am half way thru the treatment which is a for a total of 6 days. I am also experiencing flushing in my face and forehead, can you explain?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Do a physical examination by your Doctor [ENT] and to current status do few investigations like [CBC with differential, nasal endoscopy, and Nasal and sinus cultures]

2)Do take prescribed medications as advised by your Doctor and complete course and add further medications[antibiotics] as per investigations report.

Do follow lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Try to avoid upper respiratory infections. Minimize contact with people who have colds. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, especially before your meals.

2)Carefully manage your allergies. Work with your doctor to keep symptoms under control.

3)Try to avoid cigarette smoke and polluted air. Tobacco smoke and other pollutants can irritate and inflame your lungs and nasal passages.

4)Use a humidifier. If the air in your home is dry, such as it is if you have forced-air heat, adding moisture to the air may help prevent sinusitis. Be sure the humidifier stays clean and free of mold with regular, thorough cleaning.

Hope that helps
