What Causes Fluid-filled Blisters In The Coccyx Area?

Hi Dr. My husband does not recall ever having chickenpox. However, he has 2 areas of fluid filled blisters of his coccyx area and at the very base of his penises that resemble shingles. Non painful. Not spreading. Getting darker in color. Is this likely to be Shingles?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is definitely possible that it is shingles, this is one of the most common causes of a blistering rash though it is usually painful and occur around one specific area.

Other causes may be related to other types of infection such as bacterial infection or due to inflammation of the skin (dermatitis).

Like all skin rashes, diagnosis is best made by looking at the affected areas so it may be best for him to consider visiting his doctor for assessment if it does not resolve or worsens.

I hope this helps
