What Causes Fluctuation In Body Temperature And Cough Inspite Of Taking Ibugesic?

Hello... my son is 3.2 year old yesterday night down with cough ..cold n fever. We have given ibugesic plus at 8 pm.. then 2 pm then 6 am. 5 ml dose... but fever not reduced much.. at 2 pm.fever is 103.6 then at 6 am fever is 101.3.. Als his upper body and chest is more hot then less ..... we have also sponge for 15 min from Luke warm water thru towel on bck n front....can we again give ibugesic plus as last dose we have given on 2 am and now time is 7 am..... does excess dose of ibugesic ia not good for health..? Also we are avoiding much sponge as my child is having cough n old...pls advice

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have fluctuation in body temperature and cough in-spite of taking Ibugesic is due to upper respiratory tract infection and it is co-infection by bacteria and virus . Well virus infection usually go away in few days by its own , but sometimes when infection become severe and , it need medical attention. Take diet rich in multivitamins and vitamin C. Take steam twice a day to relieve the congestion and drink warm water with one spoon honey in it. I would suggest you to consult pediatrician without any delay . Doctor may order throat swab test, viral culture test, X-ray chest and blood test to confirm the diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antiviral ( acyclovir ), anti bacterial ( amoxicillin ), decongestant along with anti inflammatory. You should do tepid sponging on your child's head to lower down body temperature. Avoid hot, spicy and sharp food substances.
