My 18 year old niece has sruggled with depression for the past several years. My sister in law took her to a an infectious disease specialist who claimed she has a strain of Lyme s disease that is not identified/ recognized by the CDC. The girl is obese, and spends hours in bed. She also runs low grade fevers for days at a time. The doctor has put her on antibiotics for the Lyme s and she was already on a drugs for the depression. She started college this fall and lasted three weeks as she was always tired and spent most of the day sleeping. There is a history of diabetes in her family. Do obese adolescents normally run fevers? I think it is more of a mental health issue and that the young woman needs some better professional help as far as counseling or that she should be brought to a good clinic for a complete physical and mental testing. The parents separated years ago and she went years without seeing her father. He wanted to see her but she chose not too. I believe that has been a contributing factor to her mental health. what do you think? And have you ever heard of a strain of Lyme disease not recognized by the CDC? She has been on the antibiotics now for a couple of months and there has been no improvement.
