What Causes Fever And Breathing Difficulty Post Exposure To Insect Repellent?

hello. We are living in Brasil and used Mortein Spray to kill a Cucaracha( sorry I dont know the english name). My 8 year old son, was no nearby but probably too close when I used it. Today he woke up with fever and reclaiming about throat and lung problems and that he couldn breath properly. I treated him against fever, but only now I understood that it could be from the bug spray. It was very very hot and now it started raining and cooled down, so we did some breathing excerises. I also asked for some antialergicum to help his lungs. He seems to be very tired and started tossing. Whatelse can I do? I would like to avoid bringing him to the hospital, as most of them are closed due to the crisis and the ones open are overpacked with patients.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about your son having breathlessness, fever after exposure to Mortein anti-bug spray exposure.
The symptoms that your child developed may be due to an actual infection of the respiratory tract and might have been enhanced by exposure to the chemical.
Since you have treated fever well, breathlessness is a bad symptom that needs to be examined by the Doctor by auscultation and may need an X-ray of the chest.
Hence whatever the conditions be, get him to the Doctor, examined, investigated for further proper management to avoid any deadly complication later.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
