What Causes Fever After A Pneumonia Shot?

I got a pneumonia shot yesterday about noon (36 hours ago). My arm is fairly red over most of my tricep. My temperature is elevated at 100.8 (my usual temp is 97.8). I m 70 years old, male, and in otherwise good shape. 5 10, 172. Is there anything I should do? Take Advil?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I think it's necessary to see a doctor about it. This mat be a reaction to the shot, but more important to rule out infection of skin which sometimes occur after injections, called cellulitis.

If the area is red and warm when it's necessary to see for infection. If it's only red, and itches, then you may take Avil but still it's good to see your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
