What Causes Fatigue, Nausea And Headache When Diagnosed With Kidney Infection?

My stepmom has been sick for 3 weeks. She is a parapalygic and she s only gotten up out of bad maybe 4 times in 3 weeks. When it first started, we thought she had a kidney infection. Her urine was a dark brown color, but it s normal now. Her doctor called her in some meds but she hasn t gotten any better. Her symptoms are fatigue, nausea, headaches, excess sweating at times, and a fever. We were thinking it could be that her potassium levels are low?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the mentioned symptom one diagnosis cannot be made. But it could not be related to potassium as in that case usually weakness present and fever not present.

It can be some form of infective etiology. I suggest you investigate with full CBC, liver profile and kidney profile along with USG abdomen for primary work up.

According to cause specific treatment given. You can consult the physician once for examination. If no specific cause found then serum TSH estimation and ANA estimation is done for further work up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami,
