My hubby complains of loss of energy for the whole day everytime we indulge in sexual act. We meet only at weekends. He feels sleepy and tired the whole day. Does sex lead to loss of energy in men?

My hubby is 27 years, weighs around 65 and has no serious ailment.

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello and thank you for asking!
I can understand you concern.

I think he should do some blood tests to rule out pathologies ( underactive thyroid, anemia ect) that cause fatigue at this age:

-CBC (Complete Blood Count, also known as Hemogram; includes Hemoglobin, WBC and Platelet counts)
-Electrolytes (Sodium and Potassium in particular)
-HbA1c (Glycosylated Hemoglobin = your last 3 months' glucose average).
-Liver function tests (SGOT , SGPT, Albumin, Bilirubin, Alkaline Phosphatase)
-Kidney function tests (BUN, Creatinine)
-TSH (checks your thyroid)
-Free T4 (this too checks your thyroid)
-25 hydroxy Vitamin D levels (ideal range 40 to 60 ng/ml = 100 to 150 nmol/liter)
-Calcium

None of these tests require any fasting and can be done at any time of the day.
I would be happy to review your performed tests for another professional opinion.

Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
