What Causes Fainting Followed By Urination After An Injury?

Yesterday my son was practicing with his hunting bow and smacked his arm with the thread of the bow. When he did this he said he felt like he was going to pass out and he did. I was standing next to him and caught him. His body got stiff and begin to twitch. By the time I sat him down he had urinated on himself. My son has passed out when he s had blood drawn in the past but he s never urinated on himself. Is this something I should be concerned about? He s 15 years old and he doesn t seem to have any other medical conditions.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It seems due to the shock of sudden trauma... he lost his consciousness &control on his bladder... making him urinate.

Please give him rest. Het him checked for any injury he has got. Follow the instructions given by the doctor.

One more thing I would like to suggest... reading about twitching he had followed by urination & also previous experience after drawing blood... please take him to a neuro physician .. explain him about the incidence... he may be subjected to EEG. For exclusion/diagnosis of the fits like a thing he had (Epilepsy).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale,
