What Causes Fainting And Vomiting Along With Heartburn?

Hello Doctor. My name is Amy and I am a 30 year old woman and overweight 290lbs and about 5 5 tall. A little over a week ago I was at work and I work at Universal Studios so my job is outside, and I felt very dizzy and kept going to the water container to keep hydrated. I fainted by the water bottle and was very disoriented, so much it was hard for me to get up. I felt like I was going to black out but my supervisor took me to the office and she let me rest for a moment there to catch my breath and thought might have been heat exhaustion because of how hot it was outside. After that I vomited 3 times while at work and they let me go home. I have tried going back to work but about half way through my shift I keep getting very sick and vomiting every day since then even at home while I m sitting down or working around the house. I have been vomiting almost for a little over a week every time I eat or walk to much even when I drink water I vomit. I feel like I am bloated in the tummy a lot as well and a lot of heartburn like acids coming up to my mouth which makes me very uncomfortable. I have had a gall bladder extraction in 2009 and I have had two boys one in 2007 and the other in 2008 the last baby was a c-section. When I was 10 years old I had a kidney infection because the doctors said I drank too much soda substituting my water with it because it was something new to me since I had just arrived from Cuba, they gave me some injections and cranberry juice to drink for that. I have my tubes tied and the way the doctor explained it he said that they were going to be cut burnt on the tips and tied. I have lately felt very nauseous and very low in energy and I do not know what I have it s been about a week and a half that I have been feeling like this, and when I eat, everything I eat I vomit. Please give me your expertise opinion on this I do not know where else to turn or what to do but I can t keep missing work and I need to get better. Thank you and have a Blessed night.

Hello Amy,

Welcome to Healthcare magic forum!

Thank you giving a clear history, these symptoms are a suggestion of a Heat exhaustion, which is a heat-related illness that can occur after you've been exposed to high temperatures, and it often is accompanied by dehydration.

There are two types of heat exhaustion:

Water depletion. Signs include excessive thirst, weakness, headache, and loss of consciousness.
Salt depletion. Signs include nausea and vomiting, muscle cramps, and dizziness.

The heartburn can be because of the excessive vomiting. Please visit your general physician as soon as possible.

Also take the following precautions:
Stay indoors in air-conditioned areas when possible.
Drink plenty of water before starting an outdoor activity. Drink extra water all day.
Drink less tea, coffee and alcoholic beverages as these can contribute to dehydration.
Wear lightweight, light-coloured, loose-fitting clothes made of fabric that 'breathes' (lets sweat evaporate).
Protect yourself from the sun by wearing a hat or using an umbrella.
Increase the time you spend in daily outdoor activities slowly and gradually.
Schedule vigorous outdoor activities for cooler times of the day.
Try to avoid spending time outdoors during the hottest hours of the day: 10am to 4pm.
During an outdoor activity, take frequent breaks and drink water or other fluids every 15 to 20 minutes, even if you don't feel thirsty. If you have clear, pale urine, you are probably drinking enough fluids. (Fluids help your body control its temperature but note that heat illness can still occur when you have drunk enough fluids.)
If you have a chronic medical problem, ask your doctor about drinking extra fluids and about the effect of your condition and your medicines.

Wishing you speedy recovery!
