What Causes Excessive Yawning Along With Headache And Shortness Of Breath?

I have had excessive yawning for 4 days. I yawn about every second. Some are big and others are small. I also have a feeling I am out of breath and have to breath deep to get air. Because of yawning I now have what feels like a lump I m my throat and I get pain from my ear to shoulders and headaches in the middle of my head. I got choked a few weeks ago. Could it have something to do with it? What is this?

Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms may be related to sleep apnea.

Do you feel sleepy during the day?

This situation, doesn't seem to be related to the episode of chocking.

A psychological disorder can not be excluded too.

I recommend consulting with your GP for a careful physical examination and some blood lab tests :

-complete blood count (possible anemia)
-thyroid hormone levels (thyroid gland function)
-cortisol plasma levels (adrenal gland function)
- fasting glucose
- blood electrolytes
- blood gas analysis
- kidney and liver function tests.

A polysomnography is needed to rule out possible sleep apnea.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above mentioned issues.

Hope to have been helpful!

Best wishes!
