Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Excessive Salivation Along With Pain In The Throat?
My son has a lot of saliva, and a cold/painful feeling running from his throat to his chest. His mouth also feels funny - -he s a little worried he s having anallergic reaction. I gave him a benedryl about 15 mins ago. no fever. He thinks he might throw up.
It looks like acid reflux that is due to reflux of acid from stomach to mouth leading to burning and pain in chest and throat and it can irritate the salivary glands leading to excessive salivation.. You should consult an Emergency room and get him evaluated so that exact cause can be confirmed and treatment can be done accordingly.. If at all it is allergic reaction anti-allergic a can be advised.. In case of acid reflux antacids and proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole can be advised..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
