Hi, my direct bilirubin levels are elevated .40 to be precise. Remaining all values of liver function test are normal. Last year it was fine but this year it is elevated, how much should I be concerned about this. I used to drink beer till last year regularly but recently have switched to whisky, could this be the reason, will stopping drinking help to control these levels.
better to leave drinking. there may be jaundice due to high bilirubin. yellow conjunctiva with nausea. it can-be hepato biliary cause or breakdown of rbc. stopping alcohol willtocontroll the condition. exclude hepatitis b by blood test. presence of bile salt and bile pigment be tested
