What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Levels?

My BP has always been very low. Normal for me was 100/60. Suddenly it has been going up. I am on atenolol 50mb. I saw my doctor and he added cozaar 25 which I take along with Lipitor and low does aspirin. I check my BP and sometimes its up (180/95) and other times it s more normal. I take the meds all at one time at night. Should I space them out during the day?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If your blood pressure was initially in normal range and there was sudden rise, then it is suggestive of acute problem in your body most probably kidney related.

Go for full investigations:
-Kidney function tests
-Liver function tests
-Lipid profile
-Serum electrolytes
-Doppler test of renal vessels
-ECG and echocardiography

Consult physician for it. If all the results are normal it's possible that stress can raise blood pressure level.

Other advice is:
-Take low salt and cholesterol diet
-Have regular physical activity or early morning yoga and walking

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
