What Causes Elevated Blood Glucose Levels?

I just recently got my blood panel back and see my glucose was at 325. This was after having a physical. This number seems to be very high from what I have been reading. I have not discussed this with my doctor yet. What should I expect this conversation to be like?

Hi,

Blood glucose level with 325mg/dl is high. It cannot be concluded about having diabetes with a random glucose reading. Kindly get the following investigations done.

1. Fasting glucose level with 10 - 12 hours of overnight fasting.
2. Post-prandial glucose level at 2 hours following normal breakfast.
3. Glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c).

Kindly consult Physician or Diabetologist with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
