What Causes Elevated HDL And LDL Levels?

I am a 60 year old female with a total cholesterol of 272. My LDL is 110, my HDL is 150 (they tested it twice), Triglercides are 58. My non HDL is 122. My husband indicates that his cardiologist would say that any cholesterol over 200 is a danger and that I m in denial. My doctor, who is not a cardiologist says that there is nothing to worry about with my high HDL and an LDL that isn t out of whack. What does a cardiologist think?

Hello,

Elevated HDL is good for health. But in alcoholic or primary biliary cirrhosis patients it may also increase. So elevated LDL is not good for health it may cause atherosclerosis or coronary vascular disease.

So reduce alcohol consumption, avoid spicy food and fatty food. Do regular exercise and yoga. if no improvement needs to start antihyperlipidemic drug.

Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
