What Causes Eczema On The Nape Spreading Into Hairline?
I have what I m told is eczema on my nape, into my hairline. It has been there for about 3 or 4 years now. It appeared as a small itchy patch and now it is all below my occipital bone. It gets really itchy and even raw and tender at times. It will flake and be fine for about a day and go through the whole cycle again. It has been bad for about a year. I ve been to the doctor and she told me to use unscented shampoo, change everything to hypoallergenic and to wash my hair with Selsun Blue. I ve been doing that for about 6 months now and apply Cetephil lotion when it is really dry, which is nearly every day and it is still just as bad as when I saw her about it. What do you recommend? I m 26 years old.
For itching part I suggest to take cetrizine or loratadine 2-3 times a day if itching is more pronounced.
I advise you to not pinch or pop the area otherwise these areas are very prone for getting secondary infection.
Take care.

What Causes Eczema On The Nape Spreading Into Hairline?
Hi, I can understand your concern for the condition near hairline. In my view it appears to be seborrheic dermatitis. In my patients I suggest you topical steroid based creams such as clobetasol propionate or mometasone to apply at night time. For itching part I suggest to take cetrizine or loratadine 2-3 times a day if itching is more pronounced. I advise you to not pinch or pop the area otherwise these areas are very prone for getting secondary infection. Take care.
