What Causes Dull Ache Upon Pressing The Abdomen With History Of Anxiety Disorder?

I have discomfort, almost pain when I press on my abdomen where my diaphragm would sit. It feels like a winded feeling. I do suffer quite elevated anxiety and reflux which I take 20 - 40mg of Nexium daily. I can lift easily, have had no other issues with eating or digestion.

Dr. Hanif warmly welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic HCM. I have carefully worked through your case, and can well realize your health worries. Being your physician, I want to assure, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

You are having the problem of Gastroesophageal Reflux disease and due to that you have the issues right now. Hyperacidity and reflux patients also sometimes get stomach and duodenal ulcers and due to that they also feel pain and discomfort in the gastric compartment of the abdomen.

Take more vegetables, salads and fruits and less red meat, spices, fried and junk foods. No beverages, caffeinated drinks and alcohol or cigarettes. These all worsen the symptoms. Take Citrucel Dietary fiber supplement for better digestion and help reduce stomach acid and it is also good for cholesterol.

If Nexium is no more working for you, you may need to consult a Gastroenterologist for proper evaluation. He will run a battery of tests on you that may include but not limited to H.Pylori infection testing and a Gastric endoscopy to see whats going on in there.

Your Gastroenterologist may give you more potent drug e.g. Dexlansoperazole (Dexilant) to control hyperacidity. And if there will be h.pylori infection of stomach, he will go for Triple antibiotic regimen for a course of two weeks. If there will be some gastroduodenal ulcer, treatment will be focused accordingly.

Hope I answered all of your questions. Please don't forget to add your precious positive feedback to help me able to assist you better in future too. Have a wonderful time ahead.
