Hello,
Thank you for your query. I understand your concerns.
From what you have mentioned, I feel you are having
Allergic Contact Dermatitis. I think you are right in suspecting that the new hand cleaner is cause of your itch and
rash on your hands.
Allergic contact dermatitis is a condition that causes you to have an
allergic reaction whenever your skin comes in contact with an allergen/trigger factor. The allergen could be cosmetics, perfumes, paints, adhesives, gloves, dyes etc. I think, some ingredient in the new hand cleaner is causing you to have the dermatitis.
You can treat your hands by firstly avoiding the hand cleaner. Use something that you have used before which did not result in the rash.
To treat the present episode, apply
Betamethasone 0.1% cream twice a day on the rash for 1 week. A small quantity is enough. Try not to wash hands for at least 1 hour after applying the cream.
Also use plenty of moisturiser like
Epaderm, Oilatum, E-45 etc. as many times as possible during the day and before going to sleep (minimum 4 times in a day). Until the rash clears, do not touch any other irritants with bare hands, use gloves.
If even this does not help to settle the rash, then kindly see a skin specialist.
I hope this answer has been helpful to you.
