What Causes Dizziness, Headache And Persistent Headaches?

Hi, I am a 55 year old healthy woman (vegetarian, very rarely drink, exercise and meditate). I returned to Australia on Tuesday following an eight week holiday in Singapore, Scotland and Paris. I awoke yesterday with a throbbing and persistent headache at the back of my head and considerable persistent nausea. I also had bouts of dizziness whilst lying down and felt very fatigued and achy. Although not so pronounced today I still have considerable nausea and a dull but not so painful headache with continued fatigue and aches. I do not seem to have an elevated temperature. I also seem to have a persistent lower back pain.

Hi,

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms could be related to a viral infection or an inner ear disorder. For this reason, I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some tests:

- A resting ECG
- Cervical spine X-ray study
- Complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation
- Blood electrolytes.
Consulting with an ENT specialist may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka
