What Causes Dizziness, Ear Aches And Episodes Of Shaking?

Hello, my 15 yr old daughter has had 7 of these episodes where 5 - 15 seconds after she stand up she gets dizzy, everything turns black, upper body shakes to the point where she drops her phone, looses balance, heart beats really fast, and it lasts 15-30 seconds, but then everything is normal. There has been 7 episodes over the past several months but 2 in the last 4 days. It is more frequent now. She had had many ear issues; multiple tubes when a baby, couldn t hike a mountain a couple weeks ago ear pain, frequently has ear aches basically hurting on and off for the past month or two. Thanks!

Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health concern and following is symptom wise approach:

1. Check B.P., check neck movements, look for pallor & murmur (Cardiologist opinion). Ask for cochlear symptoms (deafness & tinnitus) & vestibular symptoms ( vertigo & nystagmus)

2. If giddiness is not promptly controlled, ask for Hb%, X-ray Cervical spine, ENT ( exclude Meniere's disease), Ophthalmic checkup.

3. If giddiness is associated with any neurological sign, refer immediately to Neurologist, till then

. Bed rest.avoid movement of head if giddiness is severe
. Stop smoking/alcohol
. If any drug is causing dizziness (anti histamines,anti hypertensive) then stop or adjust the dose.

4. Tablet Cinnarzine 25 mg thrice daily
. Inj. Prochloroperazine 2 cc IM stat for severe giddiness
. Inj. Neurobion 2 cc IM (alternate days) daily for 5-10 injection.
. Capsule B-complex twice daily
. If there are cochlear symptoms add tablet Betahistine 8 mg thrice daily.
