Hi, My dad has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver failure. He has undergone 4 perisentysis (abdominal drainings - not sure I spelled it right). After the last one the doctor put him on a distal diuretic on top of his loop diuretic - which I understand is rather standard for liver failure patients. The combination has worked well, and a lot of his swelling has gone down over the past two weeks. But now (of course late on a Friday afternoon he is dizzy and weak). I gave him a banana and extra water. He appears to be doing better. But is there a symptom that I should look for in particular to tell if the diuretics are just a bit too strong at the moment? I am worried going into the weekend that I might need to back the distal diuretic down a bit, then head into the doctor for a blood test early next week.
