What Causes Dizziness After Taking Gabapentin And Zytiga?

My husband is taking Gabapentin 600 mg. three times a day along with Zytiga (a new cancer medicine for him). He has been dizzy when he goes from sitting to a standing position and remains dizzy while he walks. Is dizziness a side effect of gabapentin?

Hi,

Gabapentin has been known for its side effect of dizziness and even somnolence. And considering the dosage of 600 mg 3x a day is high enough to cause dizziness.

I suggest a follow up with your doctor for modification of dose and even possible shifting to a less or nonsedating pain reliever or an addition of a pain reliever which does not cause dizziness.

For now, what he can do is to slowly move to a standing position and in your part assisting him to prevent falls which can cause fractures.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
