What Causes Disorientation On Taking Morphine For Severe Shoulder Pain?

my dad has been prescribed morphine for severe shoulder pain he took by syringe yesterday 4 x 2.5 he took at the end of the day 2 sleeping pills this morning he woke up very dis orientated and fell back wards in the bath and could not get him self out and was stranded from 7.30am until i found him at 5.00 pm this evening what are your thoughts thank you YYYY@YYYY gary

Hi.Can understand your concern.As per your query morphine is narcotic drug prescribed in severe pain.Disorientation is due to side effect of morphineThe drug dosage taken by him is quite high and needs to be consulted again with the treating physician.The other side effects of morphine include nausea,vomiting,mood swings,constipation,dizziness etc....Reduction in amount of of dose will help him in his severe pain without much side effect.Morphine has addiction properties and should not be used for much longer period..
