Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Discomfort In The Thoracic Spine On The Right Side?
For the past 8 weeks I have been having discomfort in my thoracic spine on the right side. I have no tenderness to touch, the area is about the size of a quarter and does not radiate. It s not painful but an annoyance. Would a chest x-Ray be warranted. I do have an occasional dry cough, no sputum or blood.
I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns. Your case:
- discomfort in the thoracic spine on the right side for 8 weeks now - no tenderness to touch and does not radiate - occasional dry cough, no sputum, no blood
From what I can understand from your saying, you are having problems with your vertebral spine on the thoracic area. Yes, a further chest X-ray is recommended to evaluate the changes there and determine the right diagnosis.
You say to have occasional dry cough, that could be due to common cold you might get occasionally. However, if I was your caring doctor would advise to consult with a gastroenterologist to rule out acid reflux. Upper endoscopy would be also recommended.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Albana
