Hi Marie,
I don't think your
gallbladder is the cause of the problems. I see many patients in my clinic referred to me for gallbladder pain and the typical symptom they have is pain in the right or mid upper abdomen about 20-30 minutes after eating. Flucanazole is used to treat
yeast infections, and would only help if you had itching or whitish discharge.
I think your discomfort is likely due to
interstitial cystitis, which is inflammation of the bladder. I would try taking
ibuprofen if you have no history of ulcers or
kidney problems (no more than 800mg every 8 hours), and
pyridium will also be helpful (this will make your urine turn orange, but can help with the discomfort). Both of these medications can be bought over the counter at any pharmacy without a prescription. If you still have pain, I'd recommend you have your urine rechecked, and make sure the doctor sends a urine culture in addition to
urinalysis. Finally, it may not be a bad idea to get checked for STD's if you have had any high risk sexual activity (unprotected sex).
I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
