As per your explanation I understand she has got a attack of stroke 2 years back and her hand ,speech as well as swallowing muscles are affected after that. Here I need update on what all treatment you have done? Like any speech therapy as well physio therapy and what is your mother age also? In very old age it is difficult to recover from major attack of stroke. But yes speech and esophageal muscle movement there will be improvement possible. Now since 2 year over its too late and further imprivement is little difficult. But still you can try once again speech therapy and physiotherapy which can stimulate her speech and esophageal muscles and if it improves her speech as well as swallowing problem can become less or may get over also. Understand one thing the stroke patient rehabilitation time, duration, and the percentage of improvement always depends more on amount of damage happen in brain at the time of stroke. After that the treatment facilitate the other part of brain cells to take care of the affected part brain work but that will happen up to one limit only. Hope you got your answer. Take care.
