What Causes Delayed Periods While On Birth Control Pills?

I have had one period since getting of birth control pills. My period is now late (last period started April 6th or 7th). Over the last two weeks I have experienced multiple symptoms including, nausea and vomiting, frequent urination, very vivid dreams, cold-like symptoms, lower back pain, excessive tiredness, and headaches. I took two blue dye pregnancy tests last night and both had a very faint line. This morning I took a couple tests and they were clearly negative. My husband and I did have unprotected sex multiple times. Is it possible to experience these symptoms so early? Could I be pregnant, and if yes, why the negative tests?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Delayed period could be due to hormonal imbalance because of changing of birth control pill. I would suggest to wait for period. If period will delay by more than 14 days from expected period date, consult the gynecologist for detailed examination. For investigations of irregular menstruation, you may be askeded for hormonal work up like FSH, LH, Oestrogen, Progesterone, Prolactin, etc.

Before hormonal check up, you will be examined internally to find any organic disease like infection or cyst-ultrasonography also will reveal a good amount of information regarding your internal organs (and even pregnancy also). Avoid stress, take healthy diet, drink plenty of water and do regular exercise.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
