What Causes Delayed Periods Along With Nausea And Constipation?

I am 5 days late on getting my period. I had a blood test which showed hcg of 2. I know less than 5 is not pregnant but if you aren t pregnant isn t it zero? I m also having some nausea, reflux, constipation, tiredness (but have had a cold for three weeks) and feel bloated. I am trying to get pregnant so not taking any pills besides vitamins and folic acid. Is it likely I am pregnant and the hcg level will rise soon? Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi dear. I am your physician and I have vast experience in Ottorhinolaryngology helping Outpatient and Inpatient and Surgical cases. Well I know whats going on there inside your body.
No it should not be zero always. Men and nonpregnant women have values like 2 (less than 5 IU/L). Pregnant women 3weeks after last menstrual period (LMP) has 5-50 IU/L. And if we suppose you are pregnant, you are then almost at 2 weeks of pregnancy and your levels today should have been (if any) 50-500 IU/L. And this beta hCG level peaks at 14 weeks of pregnancy upto 200,000 IU/L.
In my views at the moment you are not pregnant until unless proved otherwise. Your nausea is due to gastrointestinal issues.
Now what to do?
Carry on with efforts to get pregnant. My wishes are with you.
Take plenty of fluids and high fiber diet and get rid of constipation.
Have a check on your weight and genefal hygiene.
Hope you get a good time. Stay blessed
