What Causes Delayed Period And Flatulence?

I had an experience 3 weeks ago with a possible small hernia above the navel. no systems at this time. Seen by doctor, assumed gas problems. I am lactose intolerant. Yet , this is the first time I can remember that my period is a week late. I am 47 years old. could this be related to a hernia?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
i can understand your concern.
being a 47 year old you would be nearing your menopause, at the beginning of which delay in period is usually seen.
hernia would not lead to delay in period.
but the stress or the anxiety might be a reason for it.
since it is the first time and only a weeks delay there is no immediate reason to investigate the cause unless you suspect a pregnancy which is least likely in your case.
since you are a 47 yr old i would suggest a pap smear and an ultrasound pelvis as a routine examination for your age.
feel free to ask further queries.
thanks for choosing HCM
