What Causes Delay In Periods Inspite Of Being On Apomedroxy To Clear Uterine Lining?

Hello, i am 18 and i have been diagnosed with PCO and the endo doctor first prescribed to me apo- medroxy to clear my uterine lining before i started my birth control pills and Spironolactone. I have tooken the Apo Medroxy and it has now been almost a month since i finished the treatment ( I did skip a day by accident but continued the next day taking the medication till finished. and did have intercourse while taking these pills. He used a condom and pulled out before ejaculating). Now my question is, The endo told me to begin birth control and Spironolactone once i got my period but It has been almost a month since i finished it taking the Apo-Medroxy and still no period. I am aware that sometimes it takes a couple days for the person to get their periods after taking Apo- Medroxy but i dont think it should take a month... Should I still start the birth control and spironolactone anyway?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. You should not initiate the medication prescribed by your doctor until you know the status of the pelvic organs and exclude pregnancy. This can be done through a trans-vaginal sonogram and a blood test for pregnancy. If negative, ask your doctor if you need another dosage of hormones to induce the period. Sometimes, the dosage may not be sufficient to induce the period and this is dependent on the hormonal milieu. Uterine response in such cases may be poor and another dose is needed. Please maintain a healthy body weight, regular exercise and a healthy diet. Take care.
