The features described are suggestive of an infected
pilonidal sinus.
A pilonidal sinus is a small pit that occurs at the bottom of the coccyx that can become infected and filled with pus (
abscess).
Pilonidal abscesses look like a boil at the bottom of the coccyx, just above the crack of the buttocks.
You are advised to consult a surgeon for proper examination and the treatment which may involve the
incision and drainage of the sinus, removing the hair follicles, and packing the cavity with gauze.
This surgical procedure is done under local anaesthesia.
The cyst has to be excised completely to prevent the recurrence.
